School: Wu's Tai Chi Chuan Academy, Toronto

Ken trained in Ju Jitsu at the Minoru (formerly Hatashita) dojo for five years. While preparing for his brown belt, Ken asked his Sensei (Ogden Louie) about the more internal/spiritual aspects of the art and his Sensei suggested that he try Tai Chi, if Chi/Ki awareness and control was his goal.

The Spring of 2002 saw Ken visit Wu”¦s Tai Chi Chuan Academy in Toronto. He joined immediately after participating in a beginner”¦s class taught by Disciples John Daveikis and Paul Dempsey. Ken was Impressed by the open, relaxed and determined spirit present in the club, and the instructors”¦ ability to handle the difficult questions with ease. He was pleased to discover that there were many longstanding members (up to 25 years of tenure) who felt the art was still challenging and ever-deepening.

Ken counts himself fortunate to have had the chance to learn from his Sifu Wu Kwong Yu (Eddie) and instructors/disciples David Chu, Gordon Ainsley, Dave Robert, Jonathan Krehm , Doug Collins and David Mckenzie during the past year. He maintains a dialogue with other martial artists from various diciplines. Ken is committed to deepening his knowledge of the art and to representing the club in tournaments. He has a particular passion for Qi Gong, push hands, the 54 competition form, sword and freestyle.

Ken is a self-employed career coach to individual clients of all ages and levels, and an associate to several large career transition firms.

If one is seeking an art that encompasses sensitivity training of push hands, the deeper aspects of Qi Gong, in addition to locks, throws, strikes, and the grace and elegance of the forms, then Ken believes Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan may be the fit.
