Cleaver began training Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan at the Toronto Academy in 1998. Having previously trained in Yoshinkan Aikido, he had developed an understanding and appreciation of internal martial arts. After being informed that "real" Tai Chi Chuan could not be found in North America, Cleaver was suprised to find the Wu's Tai Chi Chuan Academy of Toronto literaly at his doorstep. Since that discovery, Cleaver has studied a wide spectrum of Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan, including hand forms, weapons, push-hands, chi kung, and martial applications. Cleaver is the Chief Technology Officer of GroupIT, a Toronto-based Internet software consulting company. GroupIT worked with the International Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan Federation to develop the wustyle.com website. |
