In this time we have grown from one (Sifu Martin Kennedy) to three certified instructors (adding Mary Kennedy & Anne-Marie Fortin) and we have recently expanded our training space to accommodate a steadily growing number of tai chi chuan practitioners.
This summer sees us heading in a new direction: in cooperation with the Recreation Department of the City of Fredericton, we are offering, free to the public, a Saturday morning "Tai Chi Chuan in the Park" class. We have held our first two classes and have had good weather, a good turnout and positive feedback from the program.
July 7th will mark the beginning of a new "edVenture" for us as well. In conjunction with the Fredericton Department of Tourism, we will be offering, free to the public, an outdoor morning Tai Chi Chuan class in Barrack's Square, Monday through Friday mornings from 8-8:45 am for 6 weeks. As well, with the "edVentures" program, we will offer two weekend seminars in August.
September sees two more changes for us. We will be starting a children's Tai Chi Chuan Program on Saturday mornings and Mary Kennedy will be "retiring" from her "real" job in order to devote her time to teaching, managing the Academy and practicing this amazing art form that is Wu Style Tai Chi Chuan.
We would like to extend our most sincere thanks and appreciation to Grand Master Wu Kwong Yu for his ongoing support and guidance, without which none of this would be possible. With great anticipation, we are looking forward to his next visit with us in Fredericton in November of this year. |
